Welcome to Indian Canyons
A luxurious brand of modernism prevails in the Indian Canyons, where the spacious properties represent the first foray into the golf-and-country club living in Palm Springs. The original country club layout now creates a beautiful neighborhood in Palm Springs where walking, biking, and hiking are all at the doorsteps of these homes.
The History Of Indian Canyon Neighborhood
Gorgeous homes by well-known architects William Krisel, Stan Sackley, and Charles Du Bois were built in the early 1960s around a sprawling golf course. Golfers from Hollywood flocked to Palm Springs’ first course, and bordering homes, as anticipated. While honoring the tenets of midcentury modern design, these more refined homes upped the ante with a larger footprint, more volume, and luxurious materials like poured terrazzo floors. Expansive glass picture windows frame plush green fairways, backed by the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. Originally known as Canyon Country Club, the neighborhood was renamed in 2009 for the 18-hole golf course the houses surround. Behind the original clubhouse designed by Donald Wexler and Ric Harrison in 1962 sits a fountain donated by Walt Disney, who purchased properties in the area. Houses sit in the shadows of the mountains, built almost entirely on Bureau of Indian Affairs land (known as “lease land” in Palm Springs). The location is what locals call “the wind-free south end of Palm Springs.” With all power lines underground, owners savor unmarred vistas through corridors that stretch for miles.
